Website and Search Engine Optimisation

Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) is a complicated subject and is shrouded in technical jargon and "geek-speak" however I will try to keep it in layman's terms. If you have any questions please contact us.

If there are no links in or out of your website to other websites then it is unlikely that the search engines, known as spiders, crawlers, the Google bot etc, will find your website to "index" your pages.

If the major search engines have not "indexed" your pages then your website can not be returned when an internet surfer types a key word or phrase into eg: Google.

When the search engine eventually finds your website it "crawls" the pages and reads the content. It will not read all pages at once it will return at unknown intervals (unless you control return rates) and re-read the pages it first visited and follow links through your website to other pages and read their content.

The search engine measures relevance in your text and remembers the content so when a web surfer types a search query into google it remembers where all of the possible pages are in their "index" and measures the relevance of your content against the search phrase queried and returns all pages in order of relevance to the surfers web browser.

If your content is poorly written you will receive poor ranking and never be seen. If your content is written by an SEO copywriter you will receive higher relevance and rankings.

Website Optimisation - Key to Generating Online Traffic!

The internet is littered with millions of websites that do not get seen because they have not been optimised for search engines and because the website buyer is unaware of the importance of website optimisation. The website buyer generally makes a purchasing decision based on "nice design" and price. This is a recipe for disaster.

"website optimisation is the most important aspect of a website"

The majority of website design companies do not offer website optimisation:

  1. Website optimisation is skilled, time consuming and rarely applied to low cost websites.
  2. Many website design companies do not offer SEO because they know their customer doesn't know about it !
  3. DIY Websites are not optimised because the DIY 'er is not and SEO Expert.
  4. The website your friend made you is not optimised unless he or she is an SEO expert.
  5. Free websites of any nature from any supplier are not optimised .
  6. Templates you buy from a website template supplier are not optimised.
  7. Cheap websites are not optimised - Period !

The key phrase is - buyer beware. If you want your website to be found organically then you need to buy it optimised.

Critical Website Optimisation

An optimised website is designed with detailed planning to ensure absolute congruence between:

  • Website Domain name
  • Website Architecture and Navigation
  • Website File and folder names
  • Website HTML etc code
  • Website Key word selection
  • Website Page names
  • Website Page titles
  • Website Page descriptions
  • Website Written material (copy)
  • Website Search Engine Optimisation copy editing
  • Website ALT tags
  • Website Meta data
  • Website Image editing
  • Website Image optimisation
  • Website XML Site Map
  • Website robots.txt
  • website Submission to Major search engines
  • The Location of your website server
  • Accessibility !
  • Internal links
  • External links
  • Anchor textSearch Engine Optimisation

If there is no congruence between the above then your website does not have a heart, it will not have a pulse and is not optimised for maximum visibility to the major search engines which means you will have low "organic" website visitor numbers.

SEO is a highly skilled task and needs a great deal of research and time to produce a well optimised website. By virtue of the skills involved and the time needed to do it Website optimisation is expensive.

Website Optimisation Cost.

All companies will quote in their own way. We do it very simply. Whatever we quote for the website design simply add half again to arrive at your optimised website cost.

Any business person who is considering investing in a website as a means to generate more clients and more income would be wise to purchase the complete optimised version to get a higher return on their investment.

Cost-vs-Benefit is a key consideration. Please contact us if you would like to meet to discuss any of the above in more detail.
